Fireside NotesStories & recaps from Kindling

Hello, Kits

What Kindling Kits is, why we're starting it, and how you can help pick (and light) the first few fires.

Kitsilano has a lot going for it: the beach, the mountains across the water, 4th and Broadway right there. Plenty of people still find it oddly hard to just meet their neighbours, especially if you're new here or your friends have moved across town.

Kindling Kits is our go at changing that. We're a few friends who live in Kits, putting on low-key, low-cost nights out close to home. Come solo or bring a friend. You don't need to know anyone. That's sort of the point.

Where it comes from

Kindling started up the hill in Anmore, BC, as a way to get neighbours out of the house and meeting each other closer to home. Kindling Kits is the second chapter: same campfire, same idea, run by and for people in Kitsilano.

What's next

We haven't planned our first event yet, and we'd love for you to help pick it. A few things you can do right now:

  • Suggest an event. Got an idea, big or small? Send it through the form on the home page. Walks, trivia, a long-table dinner, a beach clean-up, whatever you'd actually show up to.
  • Offer a space. Run a café, studio, shop or bar in Kits with room for a group? Let us know.
  • Lend a hand. Help on the night, or help get the word out.
  • Join the Telegram group (linked on the home page) to hear about things first.

When an event is confirmed it goes on the calendar, and you can tap I'm going so we know how many to expect.

See you around the fire.
